Following a traditional night of sitting beside his fireplace reading fiction with a lukewarm cup of cocoa, Steve Irwin retired to bed, drifted into a peaceful slumber, and never awoke. Authorities discovered the "freak accident" death of TV's famous "Crocodile Hunter" the following day.

First Star Trek, and now this?? NBC has taken "Celebrity Cooking Showdown" off its primetime menu. The reality series was originally scheduled to run five consecutive nights beginning April 17, but the peacock shelved "Showdown" on Thursday with two servings still to go. The quick hook comes after three nights of abysmal ratings.
It seems once a year, we are reminded that tech people have a marginal sense of humor, as various web sites take advantage of April Fools to come up with what they think are clever tricks...
The Army Corps of Engineers seems likely to fulfill a promise by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans's toppled flood walls to their original, pre-Katrina height by June 1, but two teams of independent experts monitoring the $1.6 billion reconstruction project say large sections of the rebuilt levee system will be substantially weaker than before the hurricane hit.
The results are in, and after tons more money spent on another report to asses what went wrong with the Katrina disaster, the obvious answer appears again, that FEMA and the Dept. of Homeland Security screwed up. Even the administration's own report reveals it.
Behind the President is his failed Supreme court nomination-Harriet Miers. Next to her is Karl Rove, the man who might be indicted next by Fitzmas for his involvement with the Plame investigation. On his left is the author of the torture memos-Alberto Gonzales. To his right is Michael Chertoff, the guy who fell asleep during Hurricane Katrina and wonders if New Orleans should even exist.
