Georgia's Drought Solution: Pray for Rain

As global climate change threatens to bring flooding to some areas, and drought to others, the southeastern U.S. is in the grip of the worst drought in decades. One small town in Tennesse has completely run out of water. Water use restrictions in Alabama and Georgia aim to conserve the dwindling reservoir supplies until the rains come at last.

What's Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue's solution? Address global warming by cutting greenhouse gas emissions? Task America scientists to study changing rainfall patterns, to develop new water distribution schemes that will work when the weather takes on new patterns?

Nope. Pray. It's the only solution that requires no sacrifice whatsoever. And since it will, eventually, rain again, it's sure to work, though maybe not until the states go thirsty.

Why not just conjure up a rain dance? It would surely have the same effectiveness. Or maybe a good dowser could locate hidden springs and save the day. And hey, I'm sure there are a few breatharians around here somewhere who lived solely on light, the power of prayer, and the scent of flowers. Maybe we could get them to teach us how it's done.

I will pray with you.......

An Alabama Christian.

With God we can do all things.

Yes, even rain. God did it before, He will do it again.
God Bless Sonny Perdue.

praying for rain always works if you get the timing right.

comedians are masters of timing. politicians are clowns, not comedians, so they are unlikely to get the timing right.

next time sonny isn't feeling well, i hope he calls a pastor and not a physician. especially if he has something fatal.

Georgia needs a more serious governor.

How on earth do you propose Governor Perdue cut greenhouse gases in time to bring us rain when we need it? And it's not like it's all of Georgia's fault that people in LA are ruining the environment with all of their polution. So yeah, that sounds like a GREAT plan....

I am not a religious person, but I figure it's worth a try since there's not much else we can do at this point. Making fun of it sure won't do any good. Have a little faith...

There is no proof that God exists. Everyone who believes that God exists learned it from someone else - a fallible human.
If God exists, He cannot be expected to be more interested in water in Georgia than in the state of the entire universe - of which Georgia is a very tiny part.
If God exists, He cannot be expected to be more interested in humans than in the condition of every other organism - microbe, insect and virus included.
In short, Gov Perdue is, at best, a fool, at worst, a charlatan. Those who are comforted by his wasted effort should worry more about doing something meaningful about the drought.

why hate on Christians praying for agreeably good things in a public place? will this somehow bring about the end of the world? REAL Christians only have two rules: love God and love people. even though non-Christians can down us/judge us/hate us, all we can do is love you. Does that makes Christians scary? What kind of person hates people that love them? Why bother those who get peace, security, and comfort from their faith?

Money frees you from doing things you dislike. Since I dislike doing nearly everything, money is handy.
