He will be missed... Posted by Joe Bleaux on 2006-11-13 09:11:49 | Once again folks, it's easy to sit back half-witted, ill-informed and judge someone's performance with the aid of hindsight. Whatever you say about this man, you certainly can't say he didn't work hard enough and wasn't intelligent enough for the job. His intelligence was displayed regularly in his bouts with the press and his hard work was reflected by his 16-18 hour-a-day 6-7 day-a-week work schedule. I for one will miss the way he handled the press that just didn't get it - it's easy to make decisions with the overwhelming clarity of hindsight at your disposal. Rumsfeld was and is not the demon that most betray him as. Instead he's turned out to be another Bush 'fall guy'. Kudos Rummy! Kudos! |
Posted by MoT on 2006-11-14 19:46:15 | Are you kidding?! Handled the press? He sounded like he was actually insane whenever talking to anyone. So the press "just didn't get it" when he said of the hunt for Osama that "We do know, of certain knowledge, that (Bin Laden) is either in Afghanistan or in some other country or dead." Or when he said everything was going just great in Iraq when his own generals who were testifying at the same Congressional hearing disagreed? Or countless other examples of him being ill-informed and half-witted. Who the hell cares if he worked 6-7 days a week if everything he was doing was helping insurgents gain ground in Iraq AND Afghanistan (quoth Rummy- "I don't do quagmires"). Get a clue. |
