The Boy Scouts of Los Angeles will be issuing a new kind of merit badge soon. This one's curriculum was developed by the movie industry (the MPAA) and will teach Boy Scouts about the importance of copyrights and evils of pirating. In a related story, Burger King is developing a merit badge to teach the importance of flame broiling and chicken fries.

Scouts will be instructed in the basics of copyright law and learn how to identify 5 types of copyrighted material and 3 ways they can be stolen. Scouts must also either go to a movie studio to see how many people are harmed by piracy or create public service announcements urging copyright compliance. The patch displays a reel of film, a cd, and the copyright symbol.
