Stanford professor of psychology Philip Zimbardo has a very interesting and insightful take on how we can look at human behavior, impulse control and motivation. He believes it all comes down to our "time perspective" and makes a compelling case for associating these biases towards the past, present and future as the main factors that control our behavior, addictions, desires and sense of satisfaction.

In an amazing parallel to the Nativity story, Flora the Komodo dragon is pregnant without the help of a male dragon, and may give (virgin) birth to eight babies on or near Christmas. That's when her eggs, which have been confirmed as fertile, are expected to hatch.

Flora has never mated with a male, or even shared a living space with a male. She's lonely, folks, and so she's using the miracle of parthenogenesis to produce a clutch of baby dragons which will all be male, in hope of eventually getting some.

The Incumbents: Hard-line Conservatives with an aggressive and combative foreign policy posture that strongly supports the existing conservative administration.

The Opposition: Moderate and Reformist candidates opposing the incumbents' stance and support of said administration

The Result: The moderate opposition take majority control in local and national elections. Election referred to as a "blow" to the administration and the voters are said to have "said a big 'no' to" the current president.

In today's feel-good story of the day, veterinarians and dolphins alike at an aquarium in China got a helping hand from the world's tallest man, an Inner Mongolian herdsman named Bao Xishun.

While American vets would have no doubt immediately performed a dangerous surgery costing tens of thousands of dollars, the Chinese used their secret weapon of tallness.

[Good News]
A federal judge ruled today that the government's warrantless wiretapping program is unconstitutional and ordered an immediate halt to it.

U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor in Detroit became the first judge (of hopefully many, who aren't so afraid as to uphold the Constitution) to strike down the National Security Agency's program, which she says violates the rights to free speech and privacy.

Score another one for the ACLU!
