WAL-Mart Gets Special "Sanitized" Version of Willie Nelson CD

As Willie Nelson prepared to release his upcoming reggae album, "Countryman", it seems his record label has altered the album's original artwork to pander to Wal-Mart's sensibilities, replacing the hemp leaf with a palm tree, specially for Wal-Mart distribution. Obviously Mall-Wart patrons would be offended by any reference to marijuana. I suspect the record company turned down the retail chain's first request: changing the pot leaf to an image of a package of Pepsid AC.

My cousin was killed by a falling coconut. As a result I'm quite offended by the palm tree cover. Any chance we can have a third version with the silhouette of a sheep jumping off a cliff?

I agree that changing the artwork sucks, but that freak musicos maybe should think about something else than his pot, which is a lamer-plant. These days it's getting boring to see so much leafs, from an underground stuff it became mainstream, which is quite funny btw.
It's not about pot

Pot is a metaphor more than anything else. It's a symbol of oppression. It doesn't have anything to do with promoting marijuana use (although Willie does have a history of doing that) more than it calls attention to the reality that plenty of more dangerous drugs (i.e. alcohol) are available and celebrated in society, while others are controlled and their users punished. The whole reggae movement is about personal freedom and the oppression of a stupid leafy plant is a great symbol of that movement. They should have done a version with a big dollar $ign for Wal-Mart.

Pot is a magically fantastic way of getting when life doesn't cut it. Besides reggae without pot is just like Wal-Mart customers objections... Pointless.

I am seriously offended. I demand they replace it with a silhouette of Willie Nelson with an erect Lil' Willie, like I asked for. Several days ago. With nary a reply.
