Seven people shuffled forward Wednesday to serve the city of Minneapolis and Hennepin County with a lawsuit for violating their rights, abusing them, and discriminating against them.

In late July, the "zombies" — six young adults and a juvenile in heavy ghoulish makeup — were arrested for "simulating weapons of mass destruction," a post-Sept. 11 felony, during a dance party near Minneapolis' entertainment district.

Minneapolis-based attorney Jordan Kushner, representing the zombies, said his clients were mostly dancing to music but may have occasionally uttered a political statement.

Jerusalem Going To Be Slightly Less Fabulous

A gay pride parade in Jerusalem was cancelled after protests, scuffles with police, and security concerns. The parade drew protests from Jews (original recipe and ultra-Orthodox), Christians, AND Muslims. That's quite a difficult gay row to hoe. Muslims believe homosexuality is a crime, and Islamic groups have demanded that police punish those involved in the parade. Evangelical Christian groups in Jerusalem, though probably disturbed to find themselves in agreement with Muslims, demanded that the public venue be changed.

Woman Sues After Receiving Ticket Over Anti-Bush Bumper Sticker

A woman who was ticketed for having an obscene anti-Bush bumper sticker filed a lawsuit in federal court Monday against a county in the state of Georgia and its officials.

Denise Grier, 47, of Athens, Georgia, got a $100 ticket in March after a DeKalb County police officer spotted the bumper sticker, which read "I'm Tired Of All The BUSH**."

Grier also seeks a declaration in federal court that her bumper sticker is considered constitutionally protected speech because she is "uncertain and insecure regarding her right to display her bumper sticker in DeKalb County," the lawsuit said.

Hey, do your part to piss off the culture police by purchasing a controversial bumper sticker.

Ron English's Popaganda

Ron English puts up illegal billboards, so he has only one way of knowing if it has been a good day.

"I consider it a success if I don't go to jail," he explained. He should know. He has had two very unsuccessful days in the past.

You may have seen Mr. English, a 43-year-old father of two, wandering around the streets of Manhattan or New Jersey with a bucket of glue, a set of rollers and a crew of accomplices. He plasters his original paintings in broad daylight on billboards he does not own. This is a conscious decision, because billboarding in the dark would only look more suspicious. "If you're out at night," he said, "it's obvious that you're not supposed to be there."

It is worth being careful. Though he has posted more than 1,000 illicit signs, Mr. English says he has been chased while half-drunk by the police in Texas, has been the object of death threats and barely escaped an angry mob in Jersey City.

Mr. English is not a run-of-the-mill graffiti maker. He is widely recognized in the art world as one of the earliest and most celebrated in a line of "culture jammers"--

Wal-Mart is a pretty powerful institution. Entire industries have been created to pander to Wal-Mart. The corporation has almost single-handedly forced countless artists and authors to alter their works to be more "family friendly" or else risk exclusion from the store's inventory.

So it's quite amusing when a group of activists have decided to petition Wal-Mart to remove a violent, offensive, racist, obcene product from their shelves: the Holy Bible.

CIA Blogger Fired For Citing Geneva Convention

Christine Axsmith, a software contractor for the CIA, considered her blog a success within the select circle of people who could actually access it.

Only people with top-secret security clearances could read her musings, which were posted on Intelink, the intelligence community's classified intranet. Writing as Covert Communications, CC for short, she opined in her online journal on such national security conundrums as stagflation, the war of ideas in the Middle East and -- in her most popular post -- bad food in the CIA cafeteria.

But the hundreds of blog readers who responded to her irreverent entries with titles such as "Morale Equals Food" won't be joining her ever again.

On July 13, after she posted her views on torture and the Geneva Conventions, her blog was taken down and her security badge was revoked.

Isaac Hayes Quits Southpark Citing "Religious Intolerance"

[Activists]
After seeing this season's premier Southpark episode, where the Chef character, previously played by Isaac Hayes appears to be composed of edited disembodied versions of his previous voiceovers, the show's creators have made a powerful statement over Hayes' departure.

It appears, it's ok to make fun of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Abortion, Hippies, Barbara Striesand, Gays, Handicapped People, Politicians, Mormons and Minorities, but if you start talking bad about Tom Cruise and Scientology, that's crunk. So Isaac Hayes quit Southpark citing "religious intolerance", presumably over the parodying of his cult, Scientology. The result? Chef turns into a pedophile and is eaten by wild animals.

To add more fuel to the fire, the Washington Post said fans have started a campaign urging people to write, phone or e-mail Viacom threatening to boycott "Mission Impossible 3" -- unless Comedy Central reruns the episode spoofing Scientology that caused Isaac Hayes to quit. Does anyone need a reason to not see Mission Impossible 3 in the first place?

At the end of the show, Kyle said they shouldn't be mad at Chef for leaving, they should be "mad at that fruity little club [Scientology] for scrambling his brains."

Our take is only fruity little people are members of fruity little clubs.

"This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology," South Park co-creator Matt Stone said. "He has no problem -- and he's cashed plenty of checks -- with our show making fun of Christians."

The Web retailer says it got an e-mail complaint that the results of the searches seem biased.

Until the criteria were changed, if you were to type in the word “abortion” you'd get a prompt that asks: "Did you mean adoption?"

The Thermals, a rambunctious rock band from Portland, Ore., were en route between gigs last year when they got a phone call from their label, Sub Pop. Hummer wanted to pay them $50,000 for the right to use their song "It's Trivia" in a commercial.

"We thought about it for about 15 seconds, maybe," lead singer Hutch Harris said. They said no.

These guys aren't alone. Many groups in music are not keen on having their art exploited to promote the gas-guzzling road behemoth that is Humvee, at any price.

Everyone knows what went down in New Orleans with hurricane Katrina, so when the largest mall in the area, Lakeside Shopping Center, did their annual Christmas Village display, the architect created a unique town, complete with tarp-covered roofs, debris, patrolling guardsmen in Humvees and helicopters rescuing people. The majority of those that saw the little display loved it. But that didn't stop the mall management from caving in to a small group of whiners who apparently complained that the display was in poor taste. So down it went, and patrons continued to flock to see the display only to find out the politically-correct Lakeside Mall pulled the local character from the display.
