[Military]
The Bush administration has condemned a recent missile test conducted by China in which one of that country's older weather satellites was blown into as many as 300,000 pieces (technically known as "smithereens"). The reason for the criticism should be obvious to anyone- it might impede our ability to spy with impunity!

The late weather satellite turned particle cloud was orbitting at approximately the same altitude that U.S. spy satellites hang around. The test follows an October order which asserts America's right to deny any country access to space for hostile purposes (presumably using a giant net slung in the mesosphere) and also opposes development of treaties or restrictions prohibiting OUR access to space (informally known as the Presidential Order to Have Our Space Cake and Eat It To).
