Two years after her apparent death, British authorities found the dead body of a woman sitting in her apartment, watching a TV that was still on. The heat had also remained on for the entire two years, and her room contained still-unopened Christmas presents from 2003.

That must have been a really bad show.

Trey Parker, one of the creators of Southpark, claims in a GQ interview that they chose to do an episode parodying Scientology in protest of the rumors that Showtime refused to let Penn and Teller do an episode of Bullshit exposing Scientology. Furthermore, the offensive Southpark episode, "Trapped in the Closet" that mocks the controversial church often called a "cult" and ridicules Tom Cruise will not be run in Britain due to threats from the litigious former "Top Gun."

It's bad enough that someone came up with the goofy idea to integrate a TV with a cell phone, but now LG Electronics has integrated Tivo-like features so that if you're watching tv and the phone rings, you can pause TV to talk on the phone. You obviously don't want to miss a second of that Creed music video while you're in the drive-thru at McDonald's and the phone rings!

During Fox News' coverage of the July 7 London bombings, Washington managing editor Brit Hume commented, I mean, my first thought when I heard -- just on a personal basis, when I heard there had been this attack and I saw the futures this morning, which were really in the tank, I thought, "Hmmm, time to buy."

This is in stark contrast to CNN Host Anderson Cooper, who, during a remote broadcast in the middle of the worst part of Hurricane Dennis, said to a fellow commentator, "This might be vain, but you've got a leaf in your hair."

Apparently citing the perfection that is commercial television, our politicians have decided that public tv and children's education is a low priority.

A House subcommittee voted yesterday to sharply reduce the federal government's financial support for public broadcasting, including eliminating taxpayer funds that help underwrite such popular children's educational programs as "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," "Arthur" and "Postcards From Buster."
